Revolutionizing Urban Food Production for the Future

Through innovative methods like vertical, hydroponic, and aquaponic farming, we're addressing critical challenges such as water scarcity, the competition for land due to housing crises, and the ongoing battle against food insecurity. By cultivating food near our living spaces, we foster a sustainable community that supports the holistic well-being of individuals—mind, body, and spirit—while also promoting local economic development. This approach not only brings fresh, nutritious food closer to urban dwellers but also represents a step forward in creating resilient, self-sustaining urban environments for future generations.

Education in Aquaponic

Education plays a pivotal role in addressing today's social and environmental challenges. We equip individuals, especially those with limited or no skills, with the comprehensive training necessary to fully operate within vertical farming operations.

16 week aquaponic training

Dive into the world of sustainable agriculture with our comprehensive Aquaponics Training Program, launching in the summer of 2024. This 16-week course, developed in collaboration with Grow2Zero, is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to start and maintain their own aquaponics systems—a revolutionary approach to farming that combines aquaculture with hydroponics for a sustainable, eco-friendly food production method. Whether you're a gardening enthusiast, a sustainability advocate, or someone looking to embark on a new, green venture, this training offers a deep dive into the science, technology, and practical applications of aquaponics. Spread over 16 sessions, each week will unveil new aspects of aquaponics, from system design and water management to plant and fish health, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. For those interested in joining this transformative journey, please reach out to us at info@themayecenter.org for enrollment details and embark on a path towards sustainable farming and food sovereignty with us this summer.
